THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Matric/ Grade 12 achieved
• 4 years or more of working experience and a portfolio to showcase your design work.
• Related degree in design/art direction from a reputable institution.
• A strong understanding of all digital communication channels
• A problem-solving attitude with excellent attention to detail and the ability to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.
• Deadline-driven with Good prioritisation and time management skills - you know what success looks like and how to measure it.
• Proficiency in 2D animation software such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate, or similar programs.
• Strong graphic design skills with expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
• Ability to create compelling visual storytelling through motion graphics, animations, and video editing.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment.
• Portfolio demonstrating a range of 2D motion design projects, graphic design work, and video editing skills.

OVERALL PURPOSE

We’re looking for a motion designer and content editor who has the skills and experience to help execute our video-first content strategy and who can play a valuable role in the conceptualisation and execution of design projects and other creative materials as a key member of the brand team. This will include all digital channels (Google Display Ads, website content, Direct Mailers, video content and text-based animations for Social Media channels) as well as some above-the-line channels like TVC advertising and digital OOH billboards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with fellow Art Directors and or UX designers and copywriters to create content that establishes Lula as a best-in-class fintech brand.
• A keen eye for typography and layout hierarchy to develop fresh and innovative designs
• Interrogate briefs for opportunities to elevate the brand and work with the team to conceptualise and create content, and coordinate and develop campaigns with a distinctive and bold visual identity while maintaining our brand identity
• Determine how best to represent a concept visually and submit to the Brand Director and stakeholders for approval
• Create visually appealing 2D motion graphics for various platforms, including social media, websites, and marketing materials
• Develop animations, transitions, and visual effects to enhance user engagement and convey messages effectively
• Collaborate with the creative team to conceptualise and execute design projects from start to finish
• Utilize graphic design skills to create static visual assets such as illustrations, icons, and layouts when needed
• Assist with day-to-day graphic design tasks as needed, such as creating social media graphics, marketing collateral, and branding materials
• Edit and integrate motion graphics into video content to create cohesive and engaging visuals
• Stay updated on industry trends and tools to continuously improve design quality and innovation
• Edit video content for social media, websites and marketing materials
• Up-to-date knowledge of latest social media trends and best practices
• Work closely with a traffic manager to ensure that projects are completed according to deadlines
