We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Allianz Commercial Motor Trade team as a Motor Trade Underwriting Manager, reporting to the Head of Motor Trade.

ABOUT YOU

To be a success in this role, you will have a strong commercial background as well as the following:

  • Outstanding technical mid-corporate underwriting ability- preferably with Motor Trade experience but property, motor and liability relevant.
  • In depth knowledge and relationships in your market.

  • Excellent numerical and analytical ability

We are looking for somebody with:

  • Experience of working within a general insurer environment with responsibility for top and bottom line performance of a portfolio or suite of portfolios
  • Supervisory/management/team leadership experience
  • Strong record of delivery against challenging objectives
  • Proven ability to understand key underwriting concepts and principles
  • Professional qualified such as ACII or equivalent would be preferable

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Motor Trade portfolio covers risks from the smallest to the largest clients, with motor, property and casualty exposures packaged into one product.
In this role you will be instrumental in the delivery of business plans, communicating the strategy and the implementation of tactical objectives. This role requires strong collaboration across the business and industry, in particular engaging with other accounts to deliver strong product value. Your responsibilities will include working on product and process improvements, underwriter development, thought leadership as well as supporting our regional offices and external customers and brokers.
The role also provides an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Pricing and Portfolio Steering teams to shape drive our technical excellence journey, through the utilisation of latest tooling, developing improved segmentation and optimising the use of pricing data assets.
As a Portfolio Manager you will support the development of superior technical underwriting and analytical skills and develop and apply appropriate risk management offerings and techniques. Your role will help maintain and improve underwriting standards and ensure that appropriate targets, objectives and development plans to support the accounts aspirations grow profitably.
