Are you a skilled HGV Mechanic looking for an exciting new opportunity?
Red Sky are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join a dynamic growing team with our Leading Automotive client based in West Sussex. We are seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic with a strong background in heavy goods vehicle maintenance and repair of a wide range of vehicles, plant, and machinery. It is essential that you have recent up to date time served as an HGV Mechanic to be considered
HGV Mechanic Responsibilities and Duties
- Service, maintenance, and repair of all types of petrol and diesel engine vehicles, plant, and machinery, with a focus on HGVs.
- Conduct regular, cyclical safety and roadworthiness inspections, including MOT preparations.
- Diagnose vehicle defects using diagnostic equipment.
- Perform general repairs and major overhauls or replacements of engines and gearboxes.
- Attend vehicle breakdowns and conduct necessary roadside repairs.
- Carry out automotive electrical work.
- Perform gas and electrical welding.
- Undertake any other tasks related to the repair and maintenance of HGVs, plant, and machinery.
HGV Mechanic Benefits:

- Monday to Friday 7.30am-4.30pm Outside of these hours (inc Saturday) is optional and paid at O/T rate
- Weekend availability
HGV Mechanic Skills Required:
- Strong understanding of the transport industry.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Capability to work under pressure.
- Willingness to work as part of a team.
- High attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills and time management.

- Carry out inspections, brake, and smoke tests.
- Diagnose faults and report findings to the Workshop Supervisor.
- Complete job cards accurately and timely.
- Ensure effective use of parts and tools.
- Report defective items promptly.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations
