Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for a specialised Cardiac MR radiographer to drive forward new expansion and oversee the running of an MR Cardiac service within MR at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The successful applicant should have experience in more advanced Cardiac imaging with the necessary knowledge to implement advanced imaging protocols and introduce a training package to allow current MR radiographers to become proficient in Cardiac Imaging.
You should have proven MRI imaging and staff management skills with the ability to work flexibly as required over 7 days working from 7am-8pm.
Adult MR services within Manchester NHS Foundation Trust comprises of six MR scanners, two located on the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) site, one at Trafford General Hospital, one at North Manchester General Hospital and two at Wythenshawe Hospital. The MR department at MRI consists of 2 MR scanners, A Siemens 1.5T Aera and GE 1.5T Excite (due to be replaced in 2022 with Siemens Sola).
To ensure consistency in quality across MR scanners, the development of cross-site MR protocols is vital. The post holder will need to communicate effectively with other MR site leads consultant radiologists/cardiologists across MFT to plan and implement any protocol changes or developments required. You will be based at Manchester Royal Infirmary but may be asked to cover at other sites depending on service need.
The post holder will act as MR Cardiac team leader for the Manchester Royal site in conjunction with another MR Cardiac team leader. They will take the lead in all aspects of Cardiac MR to include service provision, scanning protocols, vetting and introducing and delivering a staff training package for Cardiac MR. The successful candidate must be experienced in Cardiac MR and have the necessary knowledge base to oversee the introduction of a full Cardiac service to include stress imaging. They will be required to work closely with Cardiologists and radiologists to ensure the demands of the service are met. Development of policies to include PGD’s and SOPs will be required as new elements of the service are introduced. The role will also involve checking and authorising MR scans on MR conditional pacemakers/defibrillators following departmental protocol.
The range of MR examinations at MRI is extensive and so the post holder will also be expected to be competent in all MR techniques and competently run routine lists. In conjunction with the Principal MR Radiographer, you will also be expected to manage the day-to-day service provision including demand management, staff allocation and all aspects of service quality.
