Description:
JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, is responsible for scheduling and maintaining court calendars, and dockets for the Municipal Court courtrooms. Exercises technical coordination of designated staff. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. May exercise direct supervision over assigned staff.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of court clerk or administrative experience in the field of court administration, magistration, detention, law enforcement or criminal justice, with one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with diversionary programs.
- Experience with development and retention of data and databases.
- Experience working with community partners and resources.
- Experience with expungement of court records.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of court procedures and case flow management.
- Knowledge of indigency requirements.
- Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances, statutes, and regulations.
- Skill in operating a personal computer and utilization of general office and criminal justice software.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.
- Ability to develop, implement, and administer goals, objectives, and procedures for providing effective and efficient services for the City.
- Ability to perform detailed and difficult administrative duties and use independent judgment and personal initiative in the performance of assigned duties.
- Ability to provide administrative and professional leadership and direction to subordinate staff.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and officials, other government officials, community groups, and the general public.
