The opportunity
EY supports our clients in managing, improving, and reporting their sustainability performance. We help our clients accelerate the transformation towards a sustainable economy and assist them in understanding business risks and opportunities, managing regulatory changes, delivering strategic advice and to disclose performance and progress on non-financial aspects. In the Sustainability Controller role, you work as a temporary expert in our clients’ teams, managing versatile sustainability duties. The role enables you to learn about multiple industries, organizations, and teams.
Your key responsibilities
As an interim Sustainability Controller, your responsibilities, depending on the client, consist of e.g., managing and developing the sustainability reporting, aligning reporting with global reporting frameworks and standards, collecting, and analysing sustainability data, reviewing, and responding to ESG rating surveys and sustainability questionnaires, as well as working on development projects.
In this role you get to advise companies around stakeholder engagement, materiality assessments, sustainability goals and strategy development, and sustainability reporting. In addition, you get to conduct projects related to social responsibility (e.g., responsible and sustainable supply chains).
Skills and attributes for success
To succeed in this role, we consider important that you have experience of what sustainability means to business. We are looking for someone who has an understanding of how sustainability and business create value when aligned. You can either be a sustainability professional interested in controlling ESG data or a business professional with controlling experience interested in sustainability. We appreciate a can-do attitude and strong social skills. You enjoy varying and responsible tasks, developing yourself as a sustainability professional motivates you and you are happy to get to know the clients and your colleagues. In addition, an understanding of financial reporting and due diligence process is seen as an advantage.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Experience in sustainability reporting and sustainability reporting standards and frameworks (e.g. GRI, UNSDGs, and CDP)

  • Proficiency in English - both orally and in writing. Proficiency in Finnish is an advantage but not necessary.

  • Experience as Financial Controller or similar is an advantage.
