POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are currently looking for a Certified Health Information Management Professional;
NACRS Coding Specialist to join our Health Records team to assign diagnosis and intervention codes to inpatient records and electronically abstract demographic and clinical information from patients’ health records.
Responsibilities:
- Assign diagnostic and procedural codes to inpatient records using ICD-10-CA-CCI
- Electronically abstract demographic and clinical information from a patient’s health record in accordance with CIHI’s (Canadian Institute for Health Information) Guidelines and Principles and Hospital Policies/Procedures
- Keep abreast with changes in coding practices, CIHI Guidelines/Principles regarding DAD data elements
- Be familiar with processes for CMG/RIW grouping/assignment
- Participate in peer review audits both internally and externally
- Attend Coding Quality Improvement Workshops, Seminars, and Teleconferences as it pertains to job (CIHI, etc.)
