Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
As the Assistant Director of the Nakiska Winter Sports School, you will play a key role in supporting the overall management of the school’s operations. You will work closely with Senior Management to ensure a high-quality guest experience and maintain staff well-being. This role involves overseeing instructor training, daily operations, and maintaining the standard of excellence the Winter Sports School is known for.
KEY AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE
- Adherence to the Nakiska Resort policies and procedures as outlined in the Staff Handbook.
- Thorough understanding of Winter Sports School orientation, training, and operational guidelines.
- Commitment to Nakiska Resort’s health and safety protocols, including incident and hazard reporting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of snow school services, products, and Canadian ski/snowboard instruction standards (CSIA, CASI) is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with resort services, systems, and safety regulations.
KEY SKILLS
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience, preferably within a ski or snowboard school setting.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to motivate and support staff in a high-performance environment.
- Minimum Level 2 internationally recognized certification(s) in ski/snowboard instruction required.
- Experience with a variety of POS and CRM software systems is a strong asset.
- Strong I.T. skills, including experience with office software, email, and computer-based booking systems.
- Experience with cash handling and reconciliation procedures is an asset.

- Previous experience in roles with seasonal staff turnover, supervising, sales and guest service related roles will all be considered an asset but not necessarily a requirement for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the Winter Sports School.
- Ensure consistent communication between staff, instructors, and guests through various channels (in-person, email, phone).
- Work closely with Senior Management to uphold and enhance the quality of the snow school.
- Lead daily meetings with staff, providing clear instructions and updates.
- Organize, delegate, and manage responsibilities for Instructors, Lead staff, and Sales staff.
- Support staff in achieving performance goals, offering feedback, guidance, and motivation to promote success and professional development.
- Monitor and maintain a high standard of guest service and mountain safety.
- Coordinate instructor training programs, ensuring that staff are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to perform their duties effectively.
- Provide leadership in maintaining a professional image and work environment, setting a strong example for all staff members.
