POSITION OVERVIEW

The National Account Director (NAD) is responsible for optimizing access, reimbursement, and profitability for Medexus Pharma’s portfolio of brands in oncology/hematology, specialty, and orphan disease. This is a key leadership role in Medexus Pharma’s commercial organization and reports to the Sr. Director of Market Access. The NAD is responsible for executing Medexus Pharma’s market access strategies with targeted payers, health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, group purchasing organizations, Medicare administrative contractors, and Medicaid programs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for optimizing formulary access, reimbursement, and profitability within targeted accounts for Medexus Pharma’s portfolio of brands in oncology/hematology, specialty, and orphan disease.
  • Execute Medexus Pharma’s market access strategies with payers, health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, group purchasing organizations, Medicare administrative contractors, and Medicaid programs.
  • Lead negotiation and Contract Management activities with targeted accounts.
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of all Medexus Pharma Market Access strategies within Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, Health Exchange, Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and Department of Defense TRICARE (DOD TRICARE) market channels.
  • Support Market Access Marketing activities including the development and deployment of marketing materials (i.e., AMCP dossiers, budget impact models, billing & coding guides, customer slide decks) and management of external marketing agencies and vendors.
  • Represent Medexus Pharma at various industry functions such as market access conferences (i.e. Asembia, PCMA)
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Commercial Operations, and Medical Affairs to align strategies and meet joint brand and cross-organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with Sales leadership to drive product pull-through opportunities and overcome product access obstacles.
  • Analyze the US healthcare market trends, healthcare reform, and relevant business models, and develop strategies that address both current and future implications.
  • Advise commercial leadership regarding market access trends, landscape changes and policies that influence the US pharmaceutical marketplace.
  • Manages resources effectively and efficiently within budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as US healthcare laws and regulations.

Education, Experience & Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or science. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience including 5+ years as a National Account Director in Market Access.
  • 3+ years of experience as a National Account Director working with an oncology/hematology product with “hospital inpatient” site of care and reimbursed under a DRG or Case Rate.
  • 3+ years of experience as a National Account Director working with an oncology/hematology product that “hospital outpatient” site of care and reimbursed as a “medical benefit”
  • Excellent understanding of US market access environment and decision makers. Product launch experience in market access preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills to influence internal and external decision-makers.
  • Working knowledge of the contracting function and all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven track record of success to include escalating responsibility, consistent high-performance ratings, and management recognition.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to effectively communicate vision with senior management and the broader commercial organization.
  • Good understanding of all associated relevant legal, compliance and regulatory requirements.

Additional Information

  • Travel: 25%
  • Salary Range: $240,000 - 250,000
  • Must live near a major airport hub. Preferred locations (in no particular order):
  • Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, New York City/Newark
  • Current relationships with the Medical Director, Hematology/Oncology Medical Director, and Industry Relations Director within the following organizations is strongly preferred: UnitedHealth Group (United, OptumRx, Emisar), Elevance Health (Anthem, Carelon), CVS Health (Aetna, CVS Caremark, Zinc), Centene Corporation (Wellcare, Envolve), Cigna Corporation (Cigna, Express Scripts, Ascent), Kaiser Foundation Health Plans, Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), Department of Defense – TRICARE, Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Corporation (BCBS, Prime Therapeutics)
