Description:

Our buying teams - if it’s possible - have to move even quicker than the rest of the business.
And they have to keep ahead of our customers too: second-guessing what they want and need before they do. As a Buying Analyst you will bring your experience of the grocery retail industry to deep dive into market data, and provide high level insight to senior management and the buying teams to deliver competitive advantage. Your recommendations and ideas will help shape department strategies to maintain our success.
We do things our own way at Aldi. But whatever we’re doing, we must be getting it right. With a wave of impressive sales figures behind us, we’re opening new stores at lightning speed. And to keep on top of that wave, our buying teams have to do something pretty special to keep our customers coming back for more.
This is an exciting opportunity for an analytically minded problem solver to join the Beer, Cider & Soft Drink team. You will play a pivotal role in transforming raw data into actionable insights, driving informed decision making across Beers, Wine and Spirits and the wider business.
Your primary focus will be reporting key performance indicators and business wide measures, utilizing Excel functions and data visualization tools. You will spearhead the transition to our new systems, ensuring seamless migration and integration.
Engaging in adhoc data queries, you will tackle immediate business challenges with a proactive and agile mindset. If you thrive on leveraging data to contribute meaningfully to business strategy, excel in collaborating environments, and possess a knack for problem solving, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a substantial impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring seamless transition from Legacy systems (CBIS, DWH) to AHEAD systems (Analysis for Office, Tableau etc.) ensuring business questions today can be answered in tomorrow’s world
  • Developing, delivering and analysing daily/weekly/monthly business wide reports and making appropriate recommendations where necessary
  • Responsible for key event reporting and providing timely and accurate updates on business performance and post season wash up reporting
  • Fulfil requests for adhoc data dives and support where necessary with building detailed reports or answering questions that will have a clear impact on business decisions
  • Converting complex data into charts and graphs to inform future business decisions
  • Managing the efficient and accurate flow of communication both internally and externally - understanding complex data and analysing in detail before preparing business-friendly reports and presentations
  • Focus on solutions, quickly identifying risk/opportunities in the data and recommending solutions and actions to implement
  • Actively manage area of responsibility driving innovation and automation to advance the level of control within the business
  • Presenting data findings and new ideas to senior management
  • Training and upskilling team members and new starters on new reports and processes
  • The role will develop further in time with the opportunity for further analysis designed to improve performance and profitability across the team(s)
