Description:

  • Brisbane preferred. All other Bureau capital city office locations will be considered.
The Australian Government is investing $230 million over the next 10 years in flood warning infrastructure in Australia’s highest flood risk areas. This investment will enable the Bureau to simplify ownership and maintenance of high-priority flood warning assets through the acquisition, upgrade and integration of key local government-owned, and some state government-owned rain and river level gauges into its existing flood warning network across Australia.
This role has a dual reporting line to the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement - Flood Warning Infrastructure Network (FWIN) Program and the Manager, Hazard, Preparedness and Response – National. The successful candidate will have a strong strategic focus that looks to maximise the impact of program delivery.
This role will work closely with the Bureau’s Decision Support Services (DSS) and Disaster Risk Policy (DRP) teams to coordinate integrated analysis and planning for FWIN on a national scale with a deep understanding of jurisdictional needs. With direction from the FWIN Program Leadership Team they will support the FWIN Program to achieve desired outcomes on time and to budget.
They will take responsibility for the FWIN steering group and related governance activities and liaise with established national committees in partnership with relevant national and local DSS officers, as required to support program delivery. They will be responsible for internal liaison with technical and subject matter experts across the Bureau to develop solutions to emerging and complex issues that impact delivery.
They will lead the development and execution of a range of delivery plans for the FWIN Program.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to and shape the work of the Bureau of Meteorology and the emergency response capacity of the nation.
