JOB SUMMARY:

You will be responsible for overseeing the management, maintenance, and operational performance of the company’s fleet of vehicles. This role ensures the efficient running of the fleet through robust maintenance programs, compliance with UK regulations, and effective leadership. The successful candidate will drive cost efficiencies, improve vehicle safety standards, and lead sustainable fleet initiatives.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field is essential.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., Institute of Road Transport Engineers – IRTE) are preferred.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in fleet management, maintenance, or a similar engineering-based role.
  • Proven track record in managing a large fleet of vehicles at a national or regional level.
  • Experience working with UK fleet regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., DVSA, FORS accreditation).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of vehicle maintenance systems, diagnostics, and fleet telematics.
  • Commercial acumen with a focus on cost control, budgeting, and maximising fleet efficiency.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices within the fleet sector.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Fleet uptime and reduction in vehicle downtime.
  • Fleet compliance rate (e.g., MOT pass rates, safety audits).
  • Budget adherence and cost savings initiatives.
  • Reduction in fleet fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Implementation of new technologies or sustainability practices.

SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in an office environment as well as in the field.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
