Description:

It’s simple, really. You’ll be an expert in your field, and our go-to person for all things IT in the technical or commercial arena.
Our National IT teams support Aldi by delivering our system and infrastructure needs. In this vital, hands-on role, you’ll provide first and second-level support. Plus, you’ll make recommendations to improve what we do – testing new and existing programs as needed. You’re a specialist after all.
We do things our own way at Aldi. But whatever we’re doing, we must be getting it right. With a wave of impressive sales figures behind us, we’re opening new stores at lightning speed. As our customers grow and change with technical advances, our own people and business need to as well.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Server Engineer to join our wider National IT Department within Aldi.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the National Service Expert for the server areas (Windows Server, Citrix, Exchange, and Backup Services)
  • Managing our in-house and 3rd party support partners and provide any 3rd line troubleshooting/support for the server areas
  • Co-ordinate/lead project and release management for the server areas
  • Co-ordinate/lead change for the server areas
  • Co-ordinate/lead capacity and performance management for the server areas
  • Provide technical/application support expertise to other National IT teams
  • Provide relevant monitoring information to other teams regarding server resources
  • Perform monthly server patch schedules and reboots
  • Revise knowledge-based articles (KBA), policies and procedures, and develop ways of improving them
  • Create scripts as required to produce reports or refine processes
  • Create and execute rollout plans in conjunction with International IT, Regions and external suppliers as needed
  • Advise users on best practices and how-to of Windows Server operating system features to other National IT Teams, and provide basic training if required
  • Perform system maintenance/support which will occasionally fall outside of normal business hours
