Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Major Trauma team in submitting data for national submissions. We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual who enjoys working with data and is competent using spreadsheets and computer packages e.g. Microsoft Office.
The NMTR data coordinator is an integral member of the major trauma team. The post holder will play a key role in the coordination of data for University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire which is an Adult Major Trauma Centre (MTC) in the Central England Trauma Network (CETN). Ensuring that clinical information from patient records of all major trauma patients admitted to the MTC is extracted, interpreted and submitted in line with national guidance, deadlines and requirements for the NMTR.
The MTC is part of the CETN and therefore is a supportive component to the extended Trauma Units within our catchment. The CETN is one of three networks that together form The Midlands Critical Care and Trauma Network. The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues internally and externally to ensure high quality data for national quarterly dashboards, peer review assessment and other relevant accreditation’s, audits, research, and service improvement projects
Please be aware if invited to interview there will also be a test on data management. This will require attending a face to face interview due to the nature of the data and therefore unfortunately we are unable to support interviews through Microsoft teams.
Coordinate the provision of accurate, reliable and timely data onto the NMTR by completion of data submissions via the Outcomes Registries Platform (ORP), according to NMTR inclusion criteria.
Ensure that all NMTR eligible patients’ details are entered and submitted within 30 days of discharge and standards for clinical data and quality metrics within the major trauma service are met.
To search the Cerner Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system to identify patients admitted with trauma to capture and extract imaging, theatre and emergency department information and input this data into the NMTR via the ORP.
Extraction of data from clinical records, interpretation of findings and analysis of injury and outcomes working closely with the appropriate clinical teams ensuring attention to detail.
Identify data gaps and errors and ensure that they are resolved by liaising with clinical and/ or management teams, both within the Major Trauma Service and across the wider trust.
Compilation and dissemination of information to support clinical teams in managing performance and adapting clinical practices.
Provide data to other information users at all levels throughout the Trust and to appropriate external users as instructed

To ensure that the GDPR/ Data Protection Act recommendations relating to the provision of information is always followed.
Maintenance of database systems to assist the Trust in auditing information systems for the accurate recording of all patient activity.
Update the Trust information system to correct data errors or complete missing information in patient records to include demographics and activity data.
Obtain information from external and internal sources to improve the completeness of the Trust’s data.
Validate and assess the standard of data making corrections, advising on findings, and carrying out further investigations of issues, working with appropriate Trust managers.
Assist with data requests from clinicians and other UHCW colleagues ensuring data analysis is presented as needed to support service improvement, audit, and research within the MTC.
To undertake any other reasonable NMTR relevant duties as required. Including covering the work of colleagues during periods of absence or peak workloads.
Provide help and support to colleagues within the department as required.
Ensure all processes have written current procedures and that they are followed and always maintained.
Participate in appraisals and personal reviews and work to achieve agreed set objectives.
Participate in appropriate training and development activities, to include specific software training to ensure continued development of IT skills
