MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO
Reporting to the General Manager - People & Culture, the National Safety Officer will lead and oversee all safety, injury management and compliance requirements for the Company, providing effective support, guidance and advice with regards to safety and compliance, driving a positive safety culture across all business departments with a specific focus on warehousing and transport areas as high risk areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Analyse incidents, injuries and hazards, complete incident investigations and prepare reports, identify trends and propose corrective actions for improvement
- Complete workplace safety inspections and risk assessments
- Conduct internal and external audits ensuring compliance to safety standards and policies are maintained, and implement any corrective actions
- Maintain national incident, injury and hazard reporting data within the Safety / Compliance Software Program (Mango)
- Champion and deliver safety related training as required including Safety Toolbox Talks
- Develop SOP’s, implement internal auditing to ensure currency and oversee employee training across required SOP’s
- Chair the National WHS Committee
- Ensure emergency procedures and emergency personnel remain current for all locations
- Ensure compliance regarding the completion of regular reviews and inspections for all warehouse equipment, on-road vehicles, etc
- Interpret and ensure the Company remains current with all relevant legislation across all States and Territories ensuring best practice as reasonably practicable is implemented
- Review WHS policies in accordance with legislation updates and communicate these changes to all stakeholders of the business
- Take an active, lead role in maintaining the Company’s ISO Accreditation in Safety (45001), Quality (9001) and Environment (14001)
- Ensure continual improvements to the IMS
- Oversee and implement Dangerous Goods requirements
- Champion Chain of Responsibility requirements
- Proactively manage workers compensation claims, liaising with treating doctors, insurance companies and rehabilitation providers, as well as manage the return to work of injured employees
