We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Natural Gas Odourization Program Coordinator to join the Natural Gas System
Control & Maintenance Department in Winnipeg, MB. You will perform various and complex duties associated with the odorization
program functions on a wide range of complex equipment and associated controls.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a two-year Engineering Technology Diploma in Control and Instrumentation or a related field from a
recognized technical institution, eligible for CTTAM certification, with a minimum of two years of directly related experience.
- Knowledge and experience in chemistry process would be an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Research and implement industry best practices for equipment and operation of odorization of natural gas systems, including
but not limited to pipeline “pickling” and odorant injection, monitoring, control, and measurement systems.
- Assist in the modernization of odorization testing methods, including but not limited to, use of chromatograph, DTEX units, and
analysis of chemical reports to determine proper odorant levels.
- Responsible for preparing technical monthly reports, compiling and analyzing historical operational information to optimize
odorant levels, testing frequency, and injection rates.
- Responsible for the odorant spill control program, odor control systems, and disposal of odorant-related obsolete equipment.
- As subject matter expert, act as odorant spill response coordinator, provide training to field staff, recommend safe working
practices, and develop related documentation.
- Responsible for the maintenance of Transport Canada odorant trailer certifications to assure safe transportation of odorant,
inspection, maintenance, and audit of spill response materials and supplies.
- As subject matter expert, provide technical guidance and, as required, act as liaison between field staff, other Manitoba Hydro
departments, and manufacturers on matters pertaining to odorization concerns, apparatus problems, and odor concentration
process.
- Research, implement, and maintain methods to measure heat value, determine gas specifications, and odorization analysis to
ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in the installation and calibration of odorant-related equipment, including laboratory gas quality equipment.
- Research, implement, and maintain foreign particles samples methods to ensure system integrity.
- Develop documentation and provide training, coaching, auditing functions, and support to field personnel on natural gas safety
and odorization processes.
- Analyze odorization systems instrumentation and equipment data and historical failure information to produce equipment
end-of-life strategies and obsolescence plans or produce equipment failure reports.
- Participate in risk analysis work activities and develop engineering solutions for various natural gas odorization issues and to
improve systems reliability.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
