Description:

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Studies, Resource Management, or equivalent education will be considered;
  • Experience in policy and program development;
  • Previous experience working in an office preferably with an Indigenous organization and/or government;
  • Proven skills and experience with managing a heavy workload and many projects at one time;
  • Previous experience in data research, analysis, and presentation, including report writing;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with research and development on a variety of natural resources related matters;
  • Research and draft applications for project related funding opportunities;
  • Work collaboratively with other MMF staff and departments to coordinate and implement various programs and initiatives;
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with Red River Métis Harvesters regarding Métis harvesting rights and responsibilities;
  • Engage with Red River Métis Citizens and Harvesters to inform them of potential plans and projects that may impact Métis harvesting rights;
  • Continually advocate for Métis involvement in the economic benefits of a project or initiative;
  • Attend community workshops and meetings, and coordinate the facilitation of meetings, etc.
