JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Field Service Engineer will support the Naval Automation Systems installed on Merchant and Military ships by onboard preventive and corrective maintenance, by repair and testing of electronic components and equipment, by management of obsolescence

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Mechanics Engineering or college or high school diploma
  • Knowledge base of control logics and sequences of Naval Automation Systems (Propulsion, Electric Plant, Auxiliary Systems)
  • Availability for frequent off-site maintenance in Italy and abroad
  • Availability for frequent maintenance interventions onboard ships (minimum 6 months a years)
  • Good Analysis skills
  • Strong attention to details
  • Capability to manage concurrent and varied tasks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of office automation, AUTOCAD
  • Work VISA, according to local regulation, is required

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance during onboard installation, preventive and corrective maintenance according to GE Avio (technical and safety) instructions and procedures.
  • Manage and provide the maintenance activities with customers: troubleshooting, interventions, reporting, giving assistance by mail or phone, training of crew onboard or in site, defining schedule of maintenance
  • Assist in ensuring parts meet established schedules
  • Review reported malfunctions and identify / analyze any undesirable trends
  • Propose and drive solutions for components obsolescence management
  • Carry out functional tests of systems or components with the presence of Inspectors, if required by customer
  • Issue of technical documents (i.e. reports, specifications, electrical schemes, test procedures) relevant to the systems to be maintained or retrofit
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
