Job detail :
NAVAL GROUP BELGIUM - Mechanical Design Engineer - M/F
Naval Group is one of the largest international Naval Contractors. For more than 400 years, we have been constantly pushing the limits to build the naval ships to deliver technological superiority to our Customers. It is with passion that our 17,000 employees, pool their unique know-how to design, manufacture and maintain exceptional products and systems such as submarines, aircraft carriers, combat frigates and mine counter measure ships. In our recent and rapidly growing Belgian office (4 years old, 20 FTE) we focus at present on systems for mine counter measure, coastal protection, and cybersecurity.
The Belgian-Dutch remote mine countermeasure replacement program (rMCM) has been awarded in 2019 to Belgium Naval & Robotics, the consortium made up of Naval Group and Exail. This consortium was chosen by the Belgian and Royal Netherlands navies to supply twelve mine countermeasures vessels and a toolbox composed of around 100 drones.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer M/F to join the engineering team at Naval Group Belgium (Brussels) site. You will contribute to the development and design of MCM solutions. The role requires frequent collaboration with other core disciplines.
More specifically, the main responsibilities include:
- Writing of the main system specifications for design and production.
- Design, implementation, prototyping, and test of complex systems.
- Transition successful from R&D projects into production.
- Interface with system engineers and architects and understanding of the main concepts (functional, logical, and physical architectures).
- Design reviews, analysis, visiting vendors, hardware test plans.
You could also contribute to:
- Sub-contractor coordination on the technical aspects of the projects, ensuring all parties are aligned and working towards the same objectives.
- Roadmap definition by contributing to the definition of the project roadmap, outlining the key milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
