We are interested in hearing from candidates with any of these backgrounds and passionate about improving the care and lives of children. We offer support that can help deal with this aspect of the role but recommend candidates carefully consider this requirement before applying.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

The National Child Mortality Database (NCMD) Programme team is looking for an Operations Manager to oversee the programme of work. This is a senior, strategic role to assist the NCMD Director and Deputy Directors by managing the programme’s systems, communications, and relationships with external stakeholders including the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) and NHS England. The purpose of the role is to enable a continuous improvement cycle across the programme that enables us to deliver our ambition and maximise our use of systems to deliver high quality analysis to inform policy change at a national level and to reduce the number of children who die.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

A key part of the role is making decisions to prioritise the activity of the operational team (the cross-cutting areas of communications, IT systems, data analysis and planning) in line with NCMD priorities. The post-holder will be responsible for developing and maintaining an understanding of operational requirements across the full portfolio of NCMD activities, including how user needs are evolving in response to a changing context. The post-holder will be responsible for management of procurement activities, budget, staff and subcontractor relationships.
