Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
As an Advanced Behaviour Practitioner at WeKare Disability Support Group, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred behaviour support services to individuals with complex needs. You will work collaboratively with participants, their families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement behaviour support plans (BSPs) that are evidence-based, ethical, and culturally appropriate. In addition, you will supervise core behaviour practitioners, endorse their work, and ensure NDIS compliance with state regulations.
You will play a key role in providing expert guidance, ensuring adherence to NDIS standards, and overseeing the development and implementation of positive behaviour support plans. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining a high standard of care, as well as supporting the professional growth of your team.
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience in working within the NDIS environment, particularly in behaviour support, with individuals who have complex needs.
- Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBS).
- Experience supervising and mentoring staff, and endorsing work for compliance with NDIS requirements.
- Familiarity with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, as well as state-specific NDIS regulations and authorisation processes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with participants and their families.
Required Qualifications: We are seeking professionals with a background in one of the following fields:
- Social Work (AHPRA registration preferred)
- Psychology (AHPRA registration required)
- Occupational Therapy (AHPRA registration required)
- Other relevant qualifications in Behavioural Science or Disability Studies will also be considered
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments (FBAs) and develop tailored behaviour support plans (BSPs).
- Supervise and mentor core behaviour practitioners, ensuring that their work meets the required standards.
- Endorse behaviour support plans and other related documents before submitting them to an Authorised Person Officer (APO) for authorisation approval in accordance with each state’s NDIS regulations.
- Provide individualised support to NDIS participants and their families, focusing on building skills, improving independence, and reducing challenging behaviours.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals (e.g., OTs, Psychologists, Social Workers) to ensure holistic care and support.
- Deliver training and capacity-building to families, carers, and support workers on behaviour management strategies.
- Ensure that all behaviour support practices align with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and local state regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and progress tracking in line with NDIS compliance and guidelines.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, and support the implementation of PBS practices within the organisation.
- Participate in regular reviews and audits to ensure quality and compliance with all relevant regulations.
