Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION

3C Metal Belmet is seeking an NDT Inspector to join our team in Bellville, Cape Town. This role includes occasional international travel.
Job Purpose: To perform, Internal Surface Non Destructive Testing, maintain NDT equipment and procedures.

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of best practices in record keeping; effective communication and attention to detail.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to read/interpret technical drawings, procedures, industry specifications & codes.
  • General understanding of industry related specifications, e.g. AWS D1.1, ASME IX, AMSE B31.3, API
  • General understanding and familiarity of NDE (MT, PT, RT, UT) methods and reports.
  • General understanding and familiarity of fabrication processes. E.g. Welding (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW), cutting, rolling etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Matric (required)
  • NDT qualifications: SNT-TC-1A / ISO9712 Level II MPI + LPI (required)
  • SAIW Level I/ II welding inspector(Would be advantageous*)

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 – 4 years experience working as an NDT Technician.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an engineering fabrication facility.
  • Valid Driver’s licence

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) on materials and components per specific codes, procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Execute inspections as directed by project or QC managers.
  • Review and improve NDT processes to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency; assist in project preparation.
  • Interpret test results, provide recommendations, and maintain test documentation and reports.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate testing equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members, support engineers, and continuously develop NDT expertise.
  • Manage the QC/NDT equipment store.
