Neonatal Family Care Nurse – Bereavement
The Nottingham Neonatal Service is looking for an experienced individual with the ability to support the families who have experienced loss of their baby. To co-ordinate and lead bereavement support for families in the acute Hospital setting and Community. To develop inspirational and emotionally supportive programmes for families of neonatal babies who have experienced the loss of an infant. Providing guidance and support for the neonatal and multidisciplinary team caring for babies and their families during the grieving and bereavement process. Acting as an educational resource for staff on physical, psychological and administrative aspects of bereavement care, providing education and training across the neonatal service and in collaboration with allied services. Liaising with other members of the family care team to support them to facilitate practices as part of this role.
You will have a broad experience and insight into the emotional environment and feelings of families who are going through a bereavement. You will need to have the ability to lead a team and prioritise and respond to planned and unplanned situations. Together we will work as a team to develop practice and support service improvement. Organisational skills are imperative to carry out this role.
The Neonatal Service delivers care across two sites at the City and QMC Campuses. As a lead centre of the East Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network we offer medical and surgical intensive care for extremely premature and very sick infants. Our aim is for babies to be treated in the right place at the right time by a skilled and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary team with the family at the centre of this care.
