Description:

Neonatal Home Care Team
Band 6 – Neonatal Deputy Home Care Sister/Deputy Home Care Charge Nurse
There is an exciting new opportunity within the Neonatal Home Care Team. The successful applicants will be employed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), with their main base being at Sherwood Forest Hospitals (SFH), providing cross campus cover with NUH. We are seeking dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated and experienced children’s or neonatal nurses, or midwives with Neonatal experience, to be part of our homecare team. These new posts will help to provide a comprehensive service by creating a 7 day working week for SFH home care and contributing to the creation of a brand new home phototherapy service. Being a part of the Neonatal home care service at NUH means you will also work within the north hub region of the EMNODN. This will allow for opportunities to network across the north hub, access training and support and gain knowledge in other neonatal services within the network. This may also involve travel across the region.
These posts are specialist nursing roles. You will touch the hearts of families, as they will yours by building relationships, helping them through their experience providing emotional support. You will see the families’ confidence grow and empower them to care for their baby from admission to discharge, to the journey home. It is a unique experience to be able to continue give the family back the decision making of the baby’s care, with your support.
Band 6 Neonatal Deputy Home Care Sisters/Home Care Deputy Charge Nurses based at NUH are required to promote safe, early discharge of babies from the neonatal units, transitional care and paediatrics. Families will be supported by providing ongoing care needs in the home environment, for example the provision of nasogastric tube feeding at home, management of oxygen in the home environment, providing ongoing care for surgical babies, and the jaundice management of the baby requiring phototherapy at home. The Home Care team roles are pivotal to the families care. The service enables earliest, safest discharges home to bring the whole family back together
With over 19,000 staff, we are one of the biggest employers in the city with a central role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population. We play a leading role in research, education and innovation.
Come and join our wonderful team at NUH. We are big believers in diversity and welcome new ideas to help develop our team in order to deliver world class healthcare to the vast patient populations we serve. With endless personal development opportunities available, at NUH we will endeavour to turn your job into a career!
We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, or Disabled, as we are striving to be better represented at NUH.
The home care service is currently going through consultation to extend the working hours to accommodate the new home phototherapy service. The proposed hours of work will be between 0800 – 1900, which may be worked on either a 10.5 hour, or split shift basis
Candidates must have current experience of caring for neonates in a hospital or community environment. These posts offer a fantastic opportunity to utilise and develop your knowledge and skills in caring for babies in the home setting. You will liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team and support parents in providing high quality care in the home environment.
Candidates will be expected to undertake a regular clinical shift on the Neonatal unit at SFH or NUH, equivalent to 10% of weekly hours.
Par time working will be considered
