Under the direction of the Information & Technology Manager, the Network Administrator II (Contract) is responsible for maintaining a reliable, secure, and efficient data communications network spanning First Canadian, its disaster recovery site, and 7 additional Wheaton Group companies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science specializing in networking, is required.
  • 5+ years of network administration, engineering or architecture experience is required.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Certification is an asset.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is an asset.
  • Working knowledge, average capability of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other commonly used office packages.
  • Fluent in English with proven competencies in verbal and written communication, is required.
  • Fluent in French with proven competencies in verbal and written communication, is an asset.
  • Ability to be on-call on a rotational basis during weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Successful completion of a criminal and education background check and employer reference and verification before employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the Network infrastructure both at First Canadian and the other Wheaton Group companies including maintenance and administration of the Exchange mail servers, server hardware, software, and the Bit9 Security platform.
  • Installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems.
  • Programming IP phones, hunt groups, and agents in both the Mitel and Cisco phone systems.
  • Maintaining network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance.
  • Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
  • Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support on helpdesk, printer maintenance, domain and phone system administration.
  • Supervising the administration of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services to authorized users.
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
  • Utilizes tools such as Active Directory, Exchange, Rightfax, Mitel, Oaisys, Cisco, OS400 and many more tools to effectively govern and facilitate a working environment for our employees.
  • Assist in training new team members.
  • Creating user accounts based on guidelines and restrictions outlined by managers, as well as terminating access at end of employment.
  • Image workstations for plug & play that minimizes downtime while keeping a small inventory of spare imaged terminals on standby in case of emergencies.
  • Recycling hardware when they are no longer useable while securing data or the permanent removal of sensitive data.
  • Running backups and restoring data as needed.
  • Using remote support tools to provide technical assistance to staff working abroad.
  • Install and Administer third party vender software such as: cabling, terminating, and expanding network lines at all company locations as they grow.
  • Trace, tone, replace, and troubleshoot network lines that may be defective.
  • Deploying software and hardware components such as switches, hubs, routers, servers.
  • Monthly servicing tasks such as Captaris RightFax server cleanup.
  • Report progression of all initiatives to the IT Manager, as well as any and all situational circumstances.
  • Prioritizing technical issues based on urgency and importance.
  • Keeping a good working rapport with colleagues, employees, and managers throughout the organization.
  • Creating SOP’s for new and old technical initiatives.
  • On-call support on a rotational basis, including weekends and holidays.
  • Other duties as required.
