Description:
SALARY: $64,272 - $84,297
Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Network Engineer, who will provide technical assistance, tactical planning & execution, engineering, and documentation of the Agency’s core network infrastructure including the implementation of hardware, software, and security requirements. The hybrid work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm (3 days in the office / 2 days at home).
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. degree in Computer Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting wide area network infrastructure devices, including firewalls, routers switches, wireless access points, and controllers.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong network fundamentals knowledge, VLANs, IP Addressing/Subnetting; Detailed packet level knowledge of network traffic.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a project team for large initiatives.
- Must be able to establish effective relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs and how best to accomplish their goals in a diverse environment.
- Knowledge of VoIP equipment and operations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operation Systems (desktop and server).
- Working knowledge of comprehensive IT security programs
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where 24/7 communications are required for critical applications.
- Familiarity with accounting, payroll, and human resource information systems.
- Demonstrated skills with networking/security technologies. Aruba, Airwave, ClearPass, and Cisco a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Able to work a scheduled shift including evening, overnight, weekend shifts/hours and rotating on-call coverages as required.
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 40lbs.
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Responsibilities:
- Provides maintenance and administration of Agency-wide Information Technology networks and systems.
- Performs level 1 & 2 -problem resolution, assists with level 3 and demonstrates knowledge in network engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Configures and manages network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, telecommunications, and wireless access points and controllers.
- Supports the configuration and management of network monitoring devices/services for Agency- wide network management.
- Provides troubleshooting and problem resolution of network problems.
- Supports advanced network-related projects; manages basic projects.
- Collaborates with Technical Systems Architect and Sr. Network Engineer to evaluate, configure, and implement Agency network, Internet, and electronic communication security solutions and policies.
- Procures data and voice cabling installations at sites for upgrades, replacements, and new structures.
- Routinely monitors off-hours automated processes to ensure reliable operation and data recovery capability.
- Develops and maintains system documentation; implements and reviews documentation making appropriate change recommendations.
- Works closely and proactively with Business Systems and other Information Technology teams to ensure enterprise technology solutions align with Agency goals and objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
