Meta is looking for a Network Engineer, Deployment & Support - Peering who will be responsible for the deployment and support of one of the world’s largest and complex networks. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to be involved in projects related to implementation, scaling and supporting of the Peering network at Meta. The ideal candidate is an engineer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and constantly evolving network. A quick learner, proactive and highly motivated engineer whose main focus is not only deploying and expanding existing networks but also finding ways of how these processes can be more efficient, with a creative mind to find solutions for day-to-day challenges.
Network Engineer, Deployment and Support Responsibilities
-
Deploy, configure, migrate and support peering connections with internet service providers (ISPs) and content delivery networks (CDNs) to optimize network performance and deliver capacity.

Participate in the provisioning, decommissioning and migration of Edge networks across various POP sites.
-
Collaborate closely with Edge Strategy Managers, Edge Delivery Managers, ISPs and Colos to implement peering agreements.
-
Forecast and plan peering requirements for the constantly evolving Edge network and engage with stakeholders to have developed solutions in place.

Proactively seek opportunities to improve and streamline the end-to-end deployment process.

Represent the EMEA region as a peering contact and be part of a global Peering & Edge team.

Contribute proactively to documentation, automation and processes as they evolve.

Role can require some travel from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Experience in network engineering with a focus on deployment & support of Peering, Edge, CDN & ISP networks.
-
Knowledge of networking routing and switching protocols (BGP, MPLS, RSVP-TE, IS-IS).
-
Working knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP, DNS) and experience with IPv4/IPv6 environments.
-
Experience in multi-vendor environments with proven experience of different network platforms types.
-
Working knowledge of POP/Colo physical infrastructure concepts and optic types used in 10G/100G/400G networks.
-
Being able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver against project deadlines.
-
Ability to forecast and plan in a fast paced environment and translate the forecast into actionable deliverables with specific timelines.
-
Basic knowledge of Linux systems, network automation and scripting languages.
-
Communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
-
Capacity to develop scalable solutions & deployments on the Edge & Peering network.
-
Being able to travel from time to time to support deployments or participate in business/team required events.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience working in a large network provider in a similar Edge faced role with a large cross functional global team environment.

Strong knowledge in coding, scripting or automation.
-
Knowledge in Backbone & Datacenter networks and understanding of Optical networks.

Technical leadership capabilities and strong analytical skills.
