Description:

Network Specialist
City of London
Weekend work will be required (once a month)
Hybrid: 2-3 days in the office per week.

Requirements:

  • Cisco networking, routing (BGP, EIGRP), L2/L3/FCoE switching, VSS, wireless and VPN.
  • Cisco hardware, specifically Catalyst 6807, 9600, 3850, 9300 switches, ISR 4000 series routers, Nexus 9000 FCoE and UCS 6296 Fabric switches.
  • Cisco security: Cisco ISE, ASA, FTD and FMC.
  • Cisco IOS and NX-OS operating systems.
  • Cisco DNA, ThousandEyes, Solarwinds, IPAM and Netflow.
  • troubleshooting ability in all areas of Networking.
  • Cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Cisco UCS and UCS-X
  • 3rd /4th line network support.
  • Cisco Call Manager and MS Team Voice experience.
  • LLD and HLD document creation.
  • principals and technologies such as Terraform and Ansible, and scripting languages such as Python, YAML and PowerShell would be advantageous
  • Agile, Kanban methodologies
  • ITIL V3/4 accreditation

Responsibilities:

Assist in the strategic design and implementation of the Network infrastructure to ensure its high availability as well as own and manage service improvement plans
provide 3rd line IT support
Assist in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new services and enhancements to existing services within Networking
Ownership of systems used for monitoring, backups, disaster recovery and security patchinG for Network infrastructure
Ensure compatibility and interoperability on computing systems
Review and analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving implementation decisions
Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts and service improvement activity
Proactively assist in the design and implementation of long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining the Network
Develop, document, communicate and enforce a policy and procedures for standardising systems and software as necessary
