Description:

As the Network Engineer, working in Tech Ops, you will play an important role by overseeing the technical health of Whitbread’s network estate.
Whitbread has landed one of its biggest network transformation projects in its history in the industry and our new core network has a fabric running at 40Gbps, running out of multiple data centres, with near instantaneous stateful failover of service
To help us deliver this scalable software defined network transformation network to our 1,200 locations, we are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to come onboard and be involved with this cutting-edge technology transformation
As the Network Engineer, working in Tech Ops, you will play an important role by overseeing the technical health of Whitbread’s network estate, ensuring robust management and support of the network infrastructure. You will be deploying network components, as well as designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions using a range of technologies relevant to the network domain (SD Wan and Cisco).
Role: Network Engineer
Salary: £55,000pa-£60,000pa, plus up to 30% company performance-based bonus
Contract Type: Full-Time and Permanent
Location: Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire (LU5 5XE) and a hybrid way of working with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office. Occasional visits to our hotels/restaurants (once every 2 months)

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Installation, configuration, and support of network equipment including routers, security appliances, switches, wireless access points, and similar infrastructure
  • Investigating faults in the network, working collaboratively with the Network Services third-party
  • Maximising network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Implement and manage status reporting, metrics and benchmarks of network status and performance to key stakeholders
  • Review and accept new releases of software from vendors, and manage the deployment of software into the managed estate
