Description:

CONTRACT TYPE - FULL TIME / FIXED TERM 12 MONTHS

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced network engineer to work within the Councils IT Department to assist in the physical deployment of the established but ever expanding Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) and contribute to the day-to-day maintenance of the Councils IT network infrastructures.

Working in the Wolverhampton area, alongside the Network Support Team and the Digital City Infrastructure Manager the post holder will be responsible for a varied selection of tasks including but not limited to;

  • Attending customer site surveys with the Fibre provider
  • Liaising with external contractors and customer representatives
  • The configuration and installation of network hardware
  • Day to day troubleshooting of the LAN and WAN network infrastructures, working with internal technical IT teams as and when required maintaining and supporting voice and data networking equipment, software, and services.

You must have excellent customer service and communication skills, coupled with the ability to work with a variety of audiences on a number of levels. You will have recent experience in an ICT environment delivering support in a HPE Networking based enterprise which can be demonstrated through application and interview.
Any applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocation where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for ‘touch down’ space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
