At AES we are looking for a Network Monitoring Specialist
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Network Monitoring Specialist with expertise in SolarWinds Orion and SNMP monitoring. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our network monitoring infrastructure while ensuring maximum system visibility and uptime.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with SolarWinds Orion platform, including NPM, SAM, and NTA modules
- Strong understanding of SNMP, including v1, v2c, and v3 protocols, MIBs, and OIDs
- Experience in creating custom monitoring templates, reports, and dashboard views in SolarWinds
- Proficiency in basic networking concepts including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and common network protocols
- Experience with network equipment from major vendors (Cisco, HP, Juniper) and their monitoring capabilities
- Knowledge of other monitoring protocols such as WMI, PowerShell, and REST APIs
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automation of monitoring tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain SolarWinds Orion platform, including implementation of new monitoring solutions and optimization of existing ones
- Design and implement SNMP monitoring strategies across various network devices and systems
- Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards, alerts, and reports using SolarWinds Orion tools
- Analyze network performance metrics and trending data to identify potential issues before they impact business operations
- Create and maintain documentation for monitoring procedures, alerts, and escalation processes
- Collaborate with network and systems teams to implement monitoring solutions for new services and applications
- Tune monitoring thresholds and alerts to minimize false positives while ensuring critical issues are caught
- Provide training and support to team members on monitoring tools and procedures
