Description:

The Network and Telecoms team are responsible for the maintenance, health, capacity, performance, general management and uptime availability of the organisations network and telephony estate.
There are in the region of 200 sites. The Mitel system controllers and associated services are hosted within two physical data rooms in Nottinghamshire.​​​​​​​
Primary functions include the configuration, installation, support, upgrading, patching of the network hardware, configuration, installation, support, upgrading, patching of the Mitel systems, configuration, installation, support, upgrading, patching of firewall systems (Cisco, Sophos and Fortinet) plus the management and monitoring of associated systems.
The main responsibilities of the Network and Telecommunications Engineer role include:
To project manage some small projects or defined parts of larger projects at a technical level and to manage small technical teams on these projects.
To investigate, diagnose and resolve main system IT problems and to liaise with supplier companies where required.
To carry out regular maintenance activities, such as patching or system upgrades across a wide portfolio of systems.
Creation of system specific documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, Change Control Requests as required.
To provide advice and technical support to IT colleagues when circumstances necessitate.
Be a member of the on-call support team to provide 24x7 technical support cover on a rotational basis.
To ensure the Network and Telecommunications estate is compliant with any Cyber Security requirements and audits defined by our partners, customers, or the NHS. These include Cyber Essentials+, DCB1596, ISO27001 and the DSP Toolkit.
To protect and secure the perimeters of each site, the data rooms, and our CoIN. Configuring firewall systems to support this.
Nottinghamshire Health Informatics Service (NHIS) are an Information Management & Technology (IM&T) service provider. We supply digital services including Infrastructure Management, Cyber Security, a full range of 1st, 2nd & 3rd Line Technical Support Services, along with Professional and Transformation services including Project Management & Training teams. NHIS are a shared service hosted by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (SFHFT) supporting Health and Care organisations across the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS). We work collaboratively with our partner & customer organisations to help deliver their digital & transformational initiatives & strategies, providing expertise and knowledge gained through years of experience. We provide support to over 13,000 users at nearly 800 sites with around 150 internal dedicated staff. Our main aim is to help improve health and care services for citizens by working with organisations to improve the digital experience for the Health and Care workforce and for our local population, ultimately providing a data rich ICS with a focus on the sharing of information and interoperability.
