REQUIREMENTS

You will have a proven track record within the field of Claimant personal injury litigation and exhibit a high degree of flexibility; together with an ability to follow detailed instructions without close supervision. In addition, you will be highly organized, be able to manage a tasks diary and to prioritise work. You will be able to cope well under pressure and work to strict deadlines.
Good communication, organisational and IT skills are essential. Attention to detail and a good work ethic are also necessary, as well as a willingness to cover a variety of tasks. Work outside of core hours may be required on occasions, and travel to specialist Rehabilitation Units across the Country
You will need to enjoy interacting with other people, be able to work within a team structure and have excellent client care skills.

Responsibilities:

We have a vacancy for a paralegal within the expanding Neurotrauma team in our award winning Claimant Personal Injury department. The successful candidate will work as part of the Neurotrauma team who represent Clients in cases involving brain and spinal cord injury.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Yorkshire based team. This is a remote working role for a candidate based in the Yorkshire area, supporting client in Yorkshire and Nationally, with travel to our Newcastle office expected on a monthly basis.

Main activities for this role include:

  • Assisting with various aspects of case preparation including collation and review of documentary evidence including the detailed review of medical records, accident documents, collision reports and ambulance logs,
  • Assisting with the drafting of detailed witness statements, schedules and related documents,
  • Obtaining and reviewing evidence upon instruction from clients and lay witnesses,
  • Assisting with the instruction of and liaising with various professionals (including Counsel, Experts and Case Managers/Therapists),
  • Assisting with liability and quantum investigations
  • Undertaking legal research
  • Assisting other team members and applying a proactive approach on a case by case basis to achieve the very best outcome for the client, and ensuring compliance with Court timetables
  • Promoting the firm, and particularly the Neurotrauma team, externally, by attending events, developing positive relationships with potential work-referrers, and supporting the business development and profile-raising strategies and activities of the Neurotrauma team.
