Are you ready to kickstart your career with hands-on experience at a global multi-asset class institutional investment manager? If you’re passionate about financial markets or economics and want to make a meaningful impact in your community, AIMCo’s rotational program is the perfect opportunity for you.
We are accepting two new graduates into the 18-month rotational program starting in May 2025. Throughout the term, you’ll rotate through three asset classes and get the opportunity to work on special projects, while gaining valuable experience within the Investment Management space. You’ll get a chance to complete three 6-month rotations and gain a unique perspective and deep understanding of our Investment Management function, which is comprised of the following asset classes: Total Fund Investment Strategy, Fixed Income, Infrastructure & Renewable Resources, Mortgages, Real Estate, Private Debt & Loan, Private Equity, Public Equities and Sustainable Investing. Whether you have a passion for total fund strategy and how we can achieve the best possible returns or want to learn about a particular asset class, this opportunity presents a unique combination of investment experiences.
We are looking for individuals who are intellectually curious, adaptable, and responsible, with a desire to enhance their finance, data, programming, and communications skills. Responsibilities

Daily tasks and projects will differ from team to team but overall, the New Grad Analyst can expect to be involved in:

  • Learning about capital markets, investment strategies and sectors/companies of interest
  • Developing investment recommendations through modelling intrinsic valuations, identifying relative mispricing, and assessing macro trends and qualitative characteristics
  • Participating in the identification and evaluation of new investment opportunities, including direct investments and funds
  • Conducting research and analysis on a broad array of industries, sectors, funds, or other opportunities identified by the team
  • Participating in several ad-hoc projects to gain working knowledge of AIMCo’s assets
  • Assisting with creating power point presentations
  • Helping to maintain existing models and spreadsheets and to develop new models

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Completion of undergraduate studies in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field by the program start date (May 2025)
  • Knowledge of investments, economics, and asset management is an asset
  • Experience or exposure into one or more of the areas: Actuarial studies, CFA candidacy, student leadership experience, advanced Excel/Power BI/data and analytics visualization is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas), Word, Powerpoint, Publisher and Power BI
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of one or more programming languages - Python, SQL, VBA (post-secondary course work is valid)
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated and proactive. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn, able to take initiative, and willing to go the extra mile to deliver results.
  • Thrives under pressure and enjoys contributing to team goals and collaborating

Note: the successful candidate will be based out of our Edmonton, Calgary, or Toronto office.
Success Measures
Success at the end of your 18-month term will be determined by the undertaking and completion of specified daily tasks while collaborating alongside the team, sharing your ideas, contributing to several ongoing projects, and assisting the department with implementing and improving process efficiencies. There is potential for extension and/or full-time employment once rotation is complete.
