Description:

To identify which babies require screening.
To liaise effectively with parents, team members and other health care professionals.
To carry out the hearing screening of new-borns within the Maternity services and accurately record clinical and test data.
To promote a professional, welcoming and caring environment endorsing a Family Friendly approach to care.
To maintain up to date knowledge of procedures and policies relevant to this post.
To maintain the confidentiality of the babies and their families at all times.
To ensure the safety and security of equipment at all times and report any problems to the Hearing Screening local manager at the earliest opportunity.
To ensure patients and families retain their dignity, privacy and individuality at all times.
Be aware of child protection issues and adhere to local procedures

To promote a professional, welcoming, and caring environment endorsing a Family Friendly approach to care within a small team of new-born hearing screeners at Peterborough City Hospital.
This role encompasses work on a busy and dynamic postnatal care settings as well as the neonatal intensive care unit and community settings.
To provide the new-born hearing screening programme in line with the NHS screening commissioned services.

The post holder will be fully trained whilst undertaking the role and will be supported to complete a level 3 NVQ programme specific to the new-born hearing screening programme.
