Newcomer Connections is a crucial pillar within the YMCA family. Established in 1993, Y Newcomer Connections is a leading immigrant settlement Centre focused on creating connections that will transform our community into a lasting, healthy home for immigrants from around the world and from all walks of life.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in business analysis, project coordination, or coaching.
  • Degree in Social Sciences, Business, HR, or Communications/Public Relations, or equivalent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (French is an asset).
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and training development software (e.g., Zoom, Thinkific).
  • Demonstrates initiative, problem-solving, and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Knowledge of the Saint John Region Labour Market is a plus.
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit new employers to join the NEC program and assist them in finding necessary training and resources.
  • Collaborate with SSELT, Skills Launch, and Employment Liaisons to connect employees with employers.
  • Plan and execute NEC events, including employer meet-ups, group interviews, and engagement activities.
  • Present at conferences, manage promotional booths, and participate in relevant working groups like SJLIP and the Job Developers Network.
  • Conduct research on newcomer retention and employment in the region.
  • Develop and maintain online training modules, providing assistance to facilitators on platforms like Thinkific.
  • Maintain agreements and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to funders and management.
  • Support general YMCA operations, including events and outreach initiatives.
