THE FOCUS OF THE ROLE:

As News Editor, you will manage all news content on todays-golfer.com, working with the Digital Editor to set the strategy for our news section to increase sessions and page views across the category, while ensuring the rest of team understand and follow that strategy.
You and a team of writers and freelancers will be required to produce multiple pieces of content across multiple platforms each day. We are looking for someone who knows what makes a compelling story, how to find a story that others may miss, how to tell that story, and how to be first with the news from the golf world.
The aim will be to ensure TG’s news coverage leads, not follows, making us the go-to resource for readers.

ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL NEWS CONTENT

  • Create engaging content from all the relevant golf organisations, tours and events globally – including the R&A and USGA, DP World Tour, PGA Tour, LIV Golf, LET, LPGA, Challenge Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, Ryder Cup, Solheim Cup, Presidents Cup and leading amateur tournaments. You’ll need to understand the differences between the organisations, tours and events, all the key leaders and players, the state of the modern game, and how to write content that will engage our audience and attract new audiences too
  • Build relationships quickly with key industry contacts and trusted sources to ensure TG is first to the news and generates exclusive content
  • Work with the Magazine Editor and Features Writer to ensure online content can be easily repurposed for print to keep things efficient
  • Manage freelancers with clear briefs and deadlines
  • Edit and sub team members copy and feed back to aid their development
  • Interview relevant personalities and representatives from players and caddies to Tour reps and agents
  • Be obsessed with the professional game, following it and its players across television, websites and social media
