We’re looking for a News Editor to join our Vogue editorial team.
The News Editor is an integral part of the editorial team, reacting swiftly to breaking news and capturing the conversation beyond the headlines. You’ll be responsible for 10-15 articles per week, reacting to breaking news and providing commentary, analysis and opinion across four main verticals: fashion, culture, living and beauty.
Reporting to the Editor, Vogue.com, you’ll be part of an editorial team that is constantly discussing news, culture and trending topics, working to identify stories that make sense for Vogue.
You must be organised, highly aware of trends and cultural conversations happening online and ready to react to breaking news. Working closely with section editors to determine needs ahead of time whilst being self-sufficient with the ability to write and edit stories quickly.
Outside breaking now, this role will be responsible for pitching timely news stories to section editors and providing ideas for longer-lead evergreen features. You’ll also be involved in content curation for the Vogue app, Vogue.com homepage and contribute to our social platforms.
Working pattern: Wednesday - Sunday.
You will be required to work in the office on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be designated as work-from-home (WFH) days, with flexibility required during busy periods or as business needs arise.
What you will do:
- Swiftly identify, write and produce news stories with a Vogue angle.
- Coordinate with section editors and the social, production, video and app teams.
- Update the website homepage and app news feed multiple times per day.
- Produce 10-15 articles per week, a mix of breaking news and longer-lead evergreen, essayistic and reported features.
- Communicate with the audience development team on identifying and meeting key performance indicators.
Who you are:
- A passion for Vogue and our core editorial subject areas of fashion, beauty, lifestyle, culture and more, with an innate grasp of Vogue’s tone, voice, and editorial point of view.
- Excellent news judgment, with a keen eye for developing storytelling that will differentiate Vogue.
- Strong copywriting and line-editing skills under deadline in a fast-paced environment.
- Extensive writing and editing experience.
- Experience using content management systems and social media platforms.
- Knowledge of relevant celebrities and Vogue-friendly subjects.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills - experience working on cross-functional teams and partnering effectively with editors, writers, contributors at all levels.
- Experience working with digital content management and editorial analytics systems; proficiency with AirTable, Google Analytics, GSuite, InCopy, Co-Pilot a plus.
