Responsibilities:
JOB OVERVIEW AND KEY DUTIES
To manage the factory and ensure that all personnel work to their full potential to produce high quality products whilst adhering to health and safety practices. Customer and company targets must be achieved. You will be responsible for managing your team consisting of Shift Technicians, Tool Hangars, Quality Control Technicians, Material Handlers and Packing Operatives. You will take ownership for all your employees and will become the natural leader for your shift. The role will include people management and reporting requirements.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure Safety of your team and area. Support risk assessments, and review PPE is adhered to by all within your Cells. Lead by example and instil a Safety culture with your peers.
- Ensure all accidents and incidents are fully investigated in accordance with the IPL procedure
- Leading by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is maintained at all times
- Ensuring health and safety, production volume, quality and product safety standards are maintained
- As the Shift Manager you will be involved in continuous improvement within the production operation
- To plan, schedule and utilise the required labour for achievement of the production plan
- Responsible for allocating the team to machinery and break management
- Ensuring that all labour is allocated in accordance with the competencies signed off on the skills matrix
- Achieve the daily and weekly production plan to maintain customer service levels
- Review the downtime analysis data provided as part of an on-going continuous improvement initiative
- Identifying and facilitating any training needs and be actively involved with people management
- To drive improvement in planned machine rates, manning levels and to minimise change over times
- Liaising and coordinating with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning, resource and skill allocation to ensure delivery of products to schedule within all relevant quality specifications (OTIF)
- Communicating with the teams by utilising the visual management, delivery shift briefs with focus on quality, cost and delivery and gathering ideas for improvement
- Undertaking performance management and taking responsibility for team members, conducting appraisals and giving direction to aid good people performance
- Leading and motivating the team to create a high performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced
- Ensuring that non-conformances are challenged and counter measures are agreed and implemented
- Report and act upon machinery breakdowns to Shift Technicians and Engineers
- Contribute in the improvement of working procedures by constantly looking for solutions to ensure the best productivity results for the employees machinery and ensuring compliance with procedures, operating instructions and work instructions
- Taking ownership and responsibility for production shift KPIs which will include; Output vs Target, manning levels, scrap, safety, quality and house keeping
- Working closely with the Cell Leaders, Engineering Manager and Quality Manager to escalate production issues, machine breakdown or general production concerns
- Responsible for accurately completing all compliance paperwork, daily shift reports, HR attendance reports or any other documentation or reporting as and when required by the business
- Maintaining a consistent production flow ensuring employees are fully trained and working efficiently
- Authority and responsibility to ensure the shift is if fully staffed, working with HR to ensure absences are backfilled by other operators or agency staff
- You will have a responsibility to manage the Technical staff, managing and prioritising machinery faults and break downs and assisting where possible
- Ensuring production are using the correct materials directed by the production plan,
