Responsibilities:
Cork Simon Community currently has vacancies for the role of Night Worker. We are seeking compassionate and motivated individuals with an interest in working with and supporting adults affected by homelessness. In this rewarding position, you will work with a team of Night Workers managing and providing overnight accommodation in a safe, supportive environment for residents. Your work will be guided by Cork Simon values and important models of care such as Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction.
The role of Night worker offers a great opportunity for continued learning and ongoing professional development supported by your supervisor and line manager.
Some Key Responsibilities:
- Overnight Management of Emergency Accommodation: Working as part of a wider staff night team, oversee and manage the overnight operation of Emergency accommodation based at Anderson’s Street.
- Support:Respond to the needs of residents as they arise while on duty overnight.
- Foster a Safe and Welcoming Environment: Guided by Cork Simon’s Values, provide a non-judgmental, empathic and friendly approach while on duty.
- Night-Time Safety: Monitor the building and manage any safety issues that may arise while on duty.
- Bed Management:Maintain an accurate record of occupancy and appropriate night shift record keeping.
- Health and Safety:Ensure Health and Safety standards and good practices are followed.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience: Previous experience in a care setting is essential.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empowerment: Ability to motivate and empower residents.
- Knowledge: Understanding of homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, and related support responses.
- Attention to Detail: High standard of numerical and written skills.
