JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Materials Science, Metallurgy, or similar discipline) or Physics. Advanced degrees (M.S. degree or PhD) are preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of work experience in an engineering related field.
  • Self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to safety culture and willingness to ensure compliance to all codes and standards.
  • US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with:
  • working in a radiologically controlled environment
  • supervising metallographic preparation / metallography
  • Familiarity with
  • EDM, milling, and/or welding operations.
  • mechanical testing (e.g. charpy impact, tension, fracture toughness, microhardness)
  • analytical instrumentation (e.g. SEM-EDS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, LECO C/S, LECO O/N/H)
  • Active DOD or DOE security clearance.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform root cause and/or failure analysis investigations to support operation of nuclear power plants.
  • Review and compile project-specific data and directly interface with customers with technical updates. Compile project reports as needed.
  • Oversee and assist with the operation of equipment for project specific work.
  • Responsible for preventative / standard maintenance for assigned area equipment.
  • Assist in generation and revision of area operating procedures (AOPs) and technical procedures (TPs) for the assigned processing areas.
  • Implement process improvements for safety and efficiency.
  • Practice visible leadership in the laboratories, providing technical and administrative oversight as needed.
