SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
- 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate is an asset
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required for this position
- Able to work in a team environment
- Able to work shift work
- Able to communicate effectively with team members

Responsibilities:
WHAT ROLE YOU WILL PLAY IN OUR TEAM
Imperial provides job opportunities for local Sahtu beneficiaries to work and be mentored directly on the job site. This maximum 2 year internship program provides paid training and work experience in the petroleum industry at our Norman Wells Operations.
As an initial assignment you will train as a member of our operating staff to gain practical hands-on experience with operating and safety procedures. On-the-job experience will be supplemented with additional related formal training. You will begin in plant operations. You will be required to work on your own without direct supervision following the initial training period. Safe and efficient operation of the plant facilities is a key component of this position.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Understand and abide by all safety rules and standards, report hazards and assume responsibility for the safe operation of your assigned unit, company vehicle and tools
- Understand and abide by applicable government regulations (e.g. Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, etc.)
- Participate in safety programs/meetings and attend training and/or self-development courses
- Daily inspection and surveillance of production facilities
- Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on associated equipment
