Description:

As a North west scheduler your role will consist of the following,
To plan, direct, and control all operational aspects of the Northwest Linehaul Service from/to Perth, to support Moving Services activities, and to achieve better than budgeted profit targets for the Domestic and International products.
To provide hands-on support and control of the Moving Services (North-West) branches (which currently includes Port Hedland and Karratha), and WA franchises ensuring full compliance with agreed procedures and policies; to monitor and improve practices across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Operate within the requirements of the Quality System.
  • To report real and potential problems, as well as any unsatisfactory practices, to your manager for action.
  • To ensure that the service reputation of the region is maintained and that its image is appropriately promoted to the satisfaction of customers, shareholders, and the community.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities and authorities of Supervisors as described in the Quality Manual.
  • Ensure efficient running and maintaining relationships for WA LHL and 3rd Party freight movement.
  • Ensuring good relationships with WA franchises, maximizing profitability, and maintaining company standards.
  • Allocate labor, storage, vehicles, and handling aids on a daily basis to meet Department requirements. Produce daily run sheets for drivers from AMOS.
  • Pre-plan the following day’s activities before standing down each evening. Strict attention is to be given to employing the most economical method of meeting each task while maintaining high Company standards.
  • Contact clients to confirm arrangements.
  • Review booked jobs in the Amos Daily Diary immediately as jobs are confirmed to ensure adequate resources are available.
  • Provide support to Perth Operations Scheduler & Container Controller
  • Take telephone bookings from contracted clients as required.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in controlling labor within the Depot and continue to gain maximum productivity and utilization of resources.
  • Cost and price straightforward removals if required, including trip costing.
  • Brief & debrief drivers, verify hours worked, allocate cost codes and distribute paperwork to departments. Check timesheets and allocate department’s labor recharges, keeping unsaleable overtime to a minimum.
  • Programming all removal activities relating to the North West business in conjunction with other Operations Managers for the Local, Interstate, International, and Country services to ensure the most effective use of resources to meet customer demands.
  • Compile Inter-product Charge Sheets as required for the area’s services and submit them to the State Accountant in accordance with End of Month requirements.
  • Check and verify Contract Carrier claims as required.
  • Assist in verifying Drivers’ Defective Vehicle Reports.
  • Ensure the appearance of vehicles is maintained at a high standard and in accordance with Company Policy.
  • Refer all accidents, both property and persons, to the Operations Manager immediately after they occur.
  • To actively manage ‘claims’ in all forms and ensure all staff are aware of the need to achieve year-on-year improvements.
  • To work safely at all times and adhere to safe operating procedures, in accordance with Government Legislation and Company Policy.
  • Maintain the Fatigue Management System for all long-distance drivers in WA company branches.
  • Initiate action to prevent the re-occurrence of non-conforming services caused by the use of non-conforming products.
  • Initiate action to prevent the re-occurrence of service failures or lack of conformance to customer specifications and verify that timely corrective action has been taken.
  • Provide and maintain a safe working environment for employees and contractors in accordance with the relevant Western Australian Occupational Health Safety Acts.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership capability
  • Expert knowledge in household goods relocation and other Removalist activities
  • Problem-solving ability including the ability to communicate solutions providing reassurance to clients
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, highly advantageous to have an MR license or higher
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
  • Time management & organizational skills
  • Ability to be in a state of preparedness to act

Delegated Authority

  • Full authority to recommend expense of funds in direct relation to removal processes with authority from the National Project Manager & National Operations Manager in line with company policy and allowances.
  • Full authority to recommend changes in administrative or operational procedures resulting in maximizing efficiency and enhancing customer services
  • Full authority to report on performance issues and areas of development to the Operations Manager & National Project Manager
