JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Caterpillar’s Autonomy & Automation division is currently seeking a NPI Team Leader that will be in Australia. In this role, you will lead an enterprise-wide functional team which manages all phases of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process supporting technology solutions within our Underground mining business.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing leadership and direction to multi-function teams to develop 6 months to 3-year product development strategy and oversee all functions involved in the NPI product development process.
  • Communicating and coordinating NPI program activities.
  • Ensuring that the necessary resources are in place to support the programs.
  • Ensuring the development and training of team members.
  • Coordinating the prioritization of Voice of the Customer, Critical Customer Requirements, and Business Requirements for new products.
  • Establishing program performance, quality, cost, investment, and timeline targets.
  • Ensuring the NPI program meets all goal requirements for product function, reliability, program cost, budget, and customer satisfaction.
  • Actively participating in all decisions for NPI program concept, design, build, validation, release, and production.
  • Executing the NPI Management Process; prioritize critical customer and business requirements; guide concept selection and the development of product requirements and technical specifications.
  • Ensuring all product technical, cost, marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, materials, and validation issues are addressed and resolved for NPI programs.
  • Accountability for identifying, prioritizing, and managing risks across all functional areas to ensure successful product introduction.
  • Providing input to the multi-year Autonomy & Automation product strategy.
  • Executing NPI programs to support the Autonomy & Automation product strategy.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE INCLUDE;

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Program Management: Knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.
