We have a specialized geomorphology team that uses a science-based, interdisciplinary approach based on detailed knowledge of riverine and coastal geomorphology, process sedimentology, hydraulics, and geomatics. Our tailored services include geomorphological characterization, creek and shoreline restoration, geomatics, fluvial and coastal hazard assessments, and hydraulic and morphological modelling, to protect, maintain, restore, and improve fluvial and coastal systems.
We are currently seeking a J unior level Geomorphologist/Restoration Technician to join this hardworking and growing group. The position is suitable for a Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT). The successful candidate will be a self-motivating individual with strong analytical, computational, and problem-solving abilities. Come grow with us… and join a great team!

SKILLS, PROFICIENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a Physical Geography, Geomorphology, River Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, or equivalent education
  • Ability to work towards acquiring a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) accreditation in Geomorphology or Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license in the Province of Ontario
  • Demonstrated scientific skills in a range of areas including field data collection, river mechanics, sediment transport, geomorphic processes, and hydraulics
  • Experience in related aspects of water resources including environmental geoscience, biogeography, aquatic and ecological sciences is considered an asset
  • Working familiarity in digital cartography (GIS), airphoto interpretation/manipulation, and field surveys (total station, RTK) will be considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills with the proven track record to present clearly, and promote understanding through effective verbal, written and listening skills
  • Possess strong digital literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • AutoCAD or hydraulic model software experience would be an asset
  • Valid G driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • Analysis and presentation of technical information and reports
  • Undertake corridor and crossing studies in order to identify risk from natural hazards
  • Provide support to stream restoration projects based on channel processes
  • Undertake field data collection exercises, as required, including data synthesis
  • Work with various forms of spatial information, including digital topographic data and aerial imagery
  • Assist in the completion of monitoring studies
  • Coordinate construction implementation of channel restoration designs
  • Travel as required for various field programs
