Description:
The department performs a comprehensive range of diagnostic procedures, in vivo and in vitro investigations and radionuclide therapies. Currently the department undertakes around 5000 diagnostic studies, including a large number of myocardial perfusion imaging studies, renal, and orthopaedic work There are particular interests in thyroid and metabolic bone disease. Radionuclide therapies include radioiodine (benign and malignant), and lutetium-177 DOTATATE. The department is well equipped with two 16-slice SPECT/CT cameras, a modern CZT SPECT/CT camera, an onsite licensed radiopharmacy which supports seven NHS nuclear medicine departments and a bespoke purpose built radionuclide therapy suite.
The department has strong professional and technical links with neighbouring nuclear medicine, medical physics and radiopharmacy departments in Kent and further afield
