Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Alongside reporting into the Nuclear Safety Group Head, you’ll take on responsibilities within two technical areas: Reactor Physics and Safety Case implementation.
The Reactor Physics area involves:
- Performing routine physics evaluations and predictions
- Preparing refuelling assessments for the reactors and development work on Reactor Physics codes and processes
- Providing advice to the Operations Department to assist in optimising Station performance within a sage operational envelope.
The Safety Case area will involve:
- Authoring and verifying updates to the Safety Case and assessing the Nuclear Safety aspects of plant modifications.
- Ownership of the station operating rules and ensuring compliance with the nuclear site license
- Providing advice on the safe operation of plant and safety systems
This is not a definitive list as the scope of work for the Nuclear Safety Group is expanding and will include the development of strategies for efficient use of fuel during the approach to the end of Generation phase for the plant and shaping of the Safety Cases to enable efficient defueling of the reactors.
The successful applicant would be expected to be involved in both technical areas to some degree following offsite training at EDF’s Gloucester Business Park, on-site training in classroom and mentoring by experienced personnel.
