JOB OVERVIEW:

The Nurse Navigation & Oncology Access Manager oversees a team of nurses and patient navigators and access representatives to provide access to oncology services and patient support.
The duties include training and mentoring staff and accreditation reporting. They oversee the department’s daily operations, ensuring a timely and efficient patient throughput process while providing excellent customer service. The manager provides oversight of the team to ensure that policies and procedures are followed and that the staff’s work meets quality assurance metrics and regulatory and policy standards. The Manager provides leadership support to the department supervisor, team lead, and staff to ensure excellent patient throughput and exemplary customer service.
The Nurse Navigation & Oncology Access manager is responsible for ensuring that all staff members comply with the policies and procedures of their assigned work areas. This includes collaborating with the Assistant Vice President of Nurse Navigation and Oncology Access to set staff goals, managing weekly huddles, and developing innovative methods to improve patient access and navigation quality and efficiency. The Nurse Manager serves as a transformative leader, inspiring and motivating the team by promoting a positive culture within the department.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, track and manage all activity throughout the Oncology Access Center and Oncology Nurse Navigation program.
  • Promote effective teamwork among cross-functional teams and oversee the day-to-day activities
  • Selects, mentors, motivates, and directs development and evaluation of the staff; establishes and tracks quality improvement indicators to ensure that resources
  • are available for providing quality, timely performance consistent with established KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Lead Navigator to devise health-related educational programs for Nurse Navigators and Lay Navigator Access Representatives.
  • Serve as primary contact with staff to maintain communication and share pertinent information through weekly or Ad Hoc huddles or email communications.
  • Participate in local accreditation meetings and provide guidance and supervision for navigation standards.
  • Meet with staff regularly, providing a bridge for Leadership on performance and staffing concerns.
  • Ensure that work is conducted in compliance with professional standards and SOP policy and procedure.
  • Promotes clinical development, competency, and expertise in staff to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Participate and oversees the Concierge Navigator Program
  • Maintains staffing/schedule and approves time/schedule in the payroll system
  • Maintains approved standards of patient care and collaborates with resources for care continuity and in-system utilization.
  • Partner with Supervisor and Lead Navigator to initiate training schedule for new staff, yearly competency, and evaluation of the work qualit
