Job Description
THE PERSON
- Registered Nurse Intellectual Disability (RNID) with five years’ experience in ID or Registered Nurse with seven years’ experience in ID.
- QQI level 9 in a relevant postgraduate qualification.
- Evidence of participation in continued professional development.
- Minimum two years nursing management experience at Clinical Nurse Manager 2 level or higher, which must have been in an Intellectual Disability setting.
- Nurse Tutor or training and education experience would be preferable.
- On appointment practitioners must maintain live annual registration in the Intellectual Disability Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by (NMBI)
- Possesses the clinical, managerial, and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

Reporting Relationship Director of Nursing
Job Purpose To be responsible for developing and monitoring nursing standards across Stewarts
Care services.
The post holder has responsibility for promoting excellence in clinical care and
practice across the organisation.
The post holder will be responsible for the management of the undergraduate nursing
programme HSP requirements.
Scope of the Role To provide expertise, education and support in the area of clinical care and nursing
practice.
NURSING EDUCATION
- Work in consultation with the Learning and Development department in
the identification, development of and implementation of nursing
education priorities and courses.
- Develop a training programme with TCD Nurse Tutor for students and
preceptors.
- To participate on the Learning and Development committee to agree
nursing educational strategies and priorities throughout the year.
- Support practice requirements of nurses across the service by
identifying education and training needs and sourcing and delivering
appropriate evidence-based training.
- Engage with national and local NMPDU to identify and provide nurse
education supports through the CNME’s.
- Establish a pathway and supports for developing clinical competencies
to deliver safe care.
- Support and guide nurses undertaking post graduate courses.
- Promote training opportunities from the team to deliver non nursing
programmes as appropriate.
- Ensure preceptors are supported in providing quality learning
opportunities for students.
- Develop and deliver Nurses fora and mentorship programmes and
contribute to delivery of conference and webinars on issues relating to
persons with an ID.
- Have capability to deliver training, manage meetings on a variety of
platforms in person and virtually.

Terms and Conditions of Employment
Remuneration Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health (DOH) consolidated
pay scales.
Current Salary Scale: €68,652 to €77,530
Clinical Nurse Manager 3
Salaries and increments are paid in accordance with DOH scales.
Annual leave Depending on experience
Working week The hours allocated to this post are 37.5 hours per week, exclusive of lunch breaks
The allocation of these hours will be at the discretion of the Director of Nursing or a
person nominated by them and in accordance with the needs of the service.
Probation All employees will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months, with an
extension if required to 9 months. This probationary period applies to all employees
irrespective of their role or type of role.
Garda Vetting Stewarts Care will carry out Garda vetting on all new employees. An employee will
not take up employment with the organisation until the Garda Vetting process has
been completed and the organisation is satisfied that such an appointment does not
pose a risk to the service users and employees.
