Description:

Organization: Umbrella Multicultural Health Cooperative
Location: Downtown New Westminster, BC
Hours: Up to 26 hours per week (including potential weekend and evening shifts)
Compensation: $72 - $80 per hour, commensurate with experience and aligned with Health Authority rates
Start Date: Ideally early 2025 (flexible for the right candidate)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Recent relevant clinical nursing experience.
  • Understanding of social determinants of health and barriers faced by racialized ethnocultural communities.
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse, community-based setting and team-based care.
  • Fluency in one of the languages of the communities we serve is an asset.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE NURSE PRACTITIONER ROLE

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work within an interdisciplinary team, providing specialized, comprehensive, and longitudinal primary care to racialized immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers served by Umbrella Co-op CHC. The role requires commitment to the CHC and CCHB model.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comprehensive assessment of patients, families, and communities, including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions.
  • Initiating treatment, managing healthcare, prescribing medications, and providing therapeutic interventions following regulatory standards.
  • Providing professional guidance to other health professionals.
  • Practicing autonomously and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team-based model.
  • Referring patients to specialist physicians, allied healthcare, and SDH resources as appropriate.
